ATAG, the Dutch company famous for its technologically advanced built-in kitchen appliances exclusively available to the kitchen specialist, has received Red Dot Design Awards for two of its island cooker hoods.
The ES1211UAM and ES1211NAM island cooker hoods were recognised by the Awards jury for their ‘high quality and high standard of innovative design’. They are part of ATAG’s latest hood collection, and feature the enhanced Air Logic HR system, which was specially developed to maximise extraction efficiency while reducing noise levels.
These hoods use specially designed filters with an improved hole pattern to ensure constant extraction across the whole surface, rather than just near the motor. The filters also absorb more than 85 per cent of all the grease in the cooking vapours, therefore performing better than conventional hoods. Furthermore, a ‘cloud zone’ captures cooking vapours and odours so they have no chance to escape before being extracted.
The Red Dot Design Awards 2012 were judged by an international jury of leading design experts from 30 countries. There were over 14,000 entries, from around 1,800 companies in 70 countries. The jury assessed the ATAG island cooking hoods not only on design but also on criteria such as innovation, functionality, ergonomics, sustainability, product context, symbolic and emotional content and whether the products are self-explanatory and ecologically responsible.
Bill Miller, ATAG’s Sales and Marketing Director, says: “These awards clearly demonstrate ATAG’s passion for creating premium quality appliances that expertly meet the consumer’s needs. They recognise ATAG’s ability to harmoniously and thoughtfully blend design with cooking pleasure, functionality and user friendliness, achieving excellent results.”
